| 3.25 | c | All-purpose flour* | | 1.50 | c | Packed brown sugar | | 1.00 | c | Chopped walnuts | | 1.00 | c | Raisins | | 0.50 | c | Shortening | | 0.75 | c | Applesauce | | 1.00 | ts | Ground cinnamon | | 1.00 | ts | Vanilla | | 0.50 | ts | Salt | | 0.50 | ts | Baking soda | | 0.25 | ts | Ground cloves | | 2.00 | | Eggs | | --------- | BROWNED BUTTER GLAZE --------- | | 0.33 | c | Margarine or butter | | 2.00 | c | Powdered sugar | | 1.50 | ts | Vanilla |
Instructions:
*if using self-rising flour omit Salt and baking soda.
Jumbles have been popular since colonial days, made with a variety.
4 tablespoons hot water Heat oven to 375 degrees.
Mix all ingredients except glaze.
(If dough is soft, cover and refrigerate.
) Drop dough by level tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 10 minutes or until almost no indentation remains when touched with finger; cool.
Spread with Browned Butter Glaze.
Heat margarine over low heat until golden brown; remove from heat.
Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla.
Beat in hot water until smooth.
