| RECIPE FOR SEVEN LAYER SALAD |
Title: Seven Layer Salad Category: Pork Serves: 6
Ingredients:
| 1.00 | | Head iceberg lettuce | | 1.00 | md | Onion, chopped | | 1.00 | lg | Green bell pepper, chopped | | 1.00 | lb | Bacon, fried, drained, & | | | -chopped | | 1.00 | lb | Frozen green (English) peas, | | | -thawed | | 2.00 | | Stalks celery, chopped | | 4.00 | c | Mayonnaise | | 2.00 | tb | Sugar | | 0.50 | c | Milk | | 12.00 | oz | Grated cheddar cheese |
Instructions: In a large glass or foil pan, about 10 x 15"" and 3" deep; layer the vegetables and bacon.
Mix mayonnaise, sugar, and milk with a wire whisk until smooth and spread evenly over vegetable layers to cover completely.
Sprinkle grated cheese over the dressing.
Refigerate for several hours before serving.
It may be tossed before serving but I find that it mixes well enough as you spoon it out of the pan.
Some people like to add grated hard boiled eggs, but then you have more than seven layers, but who's counting.
