RECIPE FOR SAUERBRATEN GOLDEN APPLE MEATBALLS
Title: Sauerbraten Golden Apple Meatballs
Serves: 6

Ingredients:
3.00Golden Delicious apples
1.50lbGround beef
0.50cSoft bread crumbs
0.25cFinely chopped onions
1.00Egg
1.00tsSalt
0.25tsPepper
0.25tsThyme
1.00tbOil
1.00cWater
3.00tbVinegar
1.00tbPacked brown sugar
0.25cCrushed gingersnap
Cookies
1.00Bay leaf

Instructions:
Pare, core and grate apple to measure 1 cup.
Mix with ground beef, bread crumbs,onion,egg and seasonings.
Shape into balls about 1 1/2"" in diameter.
Brown on all sides in oil.
Drain excess fat.
Combine remaining ingredients;pour over meatballs and bring to boil.
Core and cut remaining apples into wedges.
Add to skillet.
Reduce heat,cover, simmer 15 to 20 minutes or until apples are tender.
Remove bay leaf.
Makes 6 servings.
