Ingredients:
| 325.00 | g | Of butter, | | 700.00 | g | Of flour, | | 325.00 | g | Of sugar, | | 2.00 | | Eggs, | | | A little bit of salt, | | 4.00 | ts | Baking powder, | | 1.00 | c | Milk, and | | 0.50 | ts | Cinnamon. | | | Alternate topping: | | 100.00 | g | Butter, | | 200.00 | g | Sugar or vanilla sugar, | | 2.00 | tb | Milk, and | | 250.00 | g | Sliced or slivered almonds. |
Instructions:
Let's start with the cake.

Cream: 200 grams of butter.
Then add: 200 grams of sugar, 2 eggs, and a pinch of salt.
Then sift together: 500 grams of flour, 4 tsp baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
Add this mixture alternating with: 1 cup milk.
to the butter mixture.
This should be a rather stiff dough.
Spread the dough into a greased jelly-roll pan or cookie sheet.
Next we will cover the cake with the streussel, or crumb, topping.
Sift into a bowl: 200 grams of flour.
To this add and mix together: 125 grams sugar, or vanilla sugar, and 1/2 tsp cinnamon.
Cut into small pieces: 125 grams of butter.
Then mix this into the flour mixture by hand.
This should be a bit lumpy and uneven.
Spread this more or less evenly over the top of the cake, and then bake at 350 F.
for about 30 minutes.
As an option, you may put sliced apples or apple sauce under the crumbs.
As another option, instead of the crumb topping, you may cover the cake with the Bee-Sting topping.
Melt: 100 grams butter.
Mix in: 200 grams sugar or vanilla sugar, 2 TBSP milk, and 200 - 250 grams sliced or slivered almonds.
Let the mixture cool, and then top the raw dough with it.
Bake as above.
The little boy in me feels compelled to say that he never had the alternate toppings, and he is more than a bit suspicious of them!
