Ingredients:
| 0.50 | c | Shortening | | 1.50 | c | Thick sweetened apple sauce | | 1.00 | ts | Baking soda | | 1.00 | c | Sugar | | 4.00 | | Eggs, well beaten | | 0.25 | c | Sour milk | | 2.50 | c | Flour | | 1.00 | ts | Cinnamon | | 0.50 | ts | Allspice | | 1.00 | ts | Nutmeg | | 0.75 | ts | Salt |
Instructions:
Cream shortening and sugar.
Add eggs and apple sauce.
Beat thoroughly.
Sift flour, measure, and sift with baking soda, salt, and spices.
Add alternately with milk to first mixture.
Beat thoroughly.
Pour into well-oiled loaf pan.
Bake in moderate oven (375 F) about 45 minutes.
